KUALA LUMPUR: A police beat base in the Chow Kit area of downtown Kuala Lumpur was closed down because it was in a location that was considered unsafe, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar.
In a written reply to Dr Lo’ Lo’ Mohamad Ghazali (PAS-Titiwangsa), Syed Hamid said the beat base was located in a dirty area where there was a possibility of being exposed to contagious diseases.
The presence of criminals also posed a threat to the safety of police officers, he said.
Dr Mohd Hatta said that if the police themselves felt unsafe in a beat base, then it would be even worse for the public.
“The minister has to resign if he is worried about the safety of police in that area. Maybe it would be better to put the beat base in army barracks,” he said.
Dr Mohd Hatta then managed to raise the issue again during his own debate on Budget 2009 saying that Syed Ali’s response was not rational.
“The police are there to make a place safe. If they themselves are scared and run away, then how can we hope for others to want to be there?

KUALA TERENGGANU: Police have initiated investigations into Hindu Rights Action Force
(Hindraf) and are monitoring the movement of its members following Wednesday’s ban by the Government.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan said members could face arrest if they remained defiant and proceeded to organise gatherings.
“They have been banned and deemed illegal, therefore cannot do anything.
“Hindraf’s status is akin to a secret society,” he said here on Thursday.
Musa did not elaborate on the type of action that would be taken against Hindraf members, saying this would be up to the Attorney-General.

I just came back from Langkawi, and, I have something bad to relate as of now! My wifey and I visited Langwi Wild Life center, and we paid RM 12 each per entry; at the same time we spent RM3 to purchase some food to feed the animal in the center. When we happily walked through the passage to the Ostrich farm, we bum into an Indian couple with 3 kids, obviously they did not purchase anything to feed the Ostrich as they watch us feeding the Ostrich happily. Out of a sudden, the father pick up a camera, and direct their kids to feed the Ostrich. I was amazed because I didn't notice carry anything food with them; when I turn my head to look at it for reaffirmation, I saw the paretns had acually took off the stickers on their shirt (usualluy for identification when you join a tour group), and feed the stickers to the Ostrich. Of course who to blame, the Ostrich is too stupid to think that's food. TIU NIA SENG!!! The Parents are a good role model for their kids, don't you think! TIU NIA SENG!!
